I'm glad i don't feel compelled to update my site very often. I am employed and degreed in a technical profession (engineering, to be specific) and the stereotypes that are sometimes applied to the profession unfortunately fit me pretty well. I'm not automatically creative, so it is difficult for me to think of a topic to sound off on. I'll tell you a little about me now and the things that are important to me.
I am a son of the Most High God, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and an uncle. I have more titles, but most of them are obvious, so there is no need to list them here. Things that are most important to me are Jesus, my family, and cars (sometimes not in that order).
I have learned much in the last year. For example, I have learned that when the bible talks about God blessing us if we delight in his word it really means it. I have also learned that if we are faithful in the small things, God will place us in charge of the bigger things. God led us (my wife and I) to volunteer to help with setup for our Young Married Life group. We happily did that for several months and then we were asked to help out with the leadership of the group. My children teach me lessons too. In fact I probably learn more from their discipline than they do. I tell my 19 month old son to do something and he deliberately disobeys me. I think about Bill Cosby's routine about children having brain damage. You tell them something that is simple to obey and they purposefully choose to do the opposite, fully knowing that obedience brings blessing and disobedience causes pain. We re-iterate this scenario daily. Then I realize how often we do the same thing. How many times have we had a time when we were being faithful and experiencing blessing and then jump headlong into our sins again? We can't deny that we know the consequences and we know that remaining faithful brings joy. That is just plain stupid. Of course we need to realize that this stupidity makes our redemtion even greater. That God would trade Jesus for me!
